Horror game Observer coming soon to Mac

Observer, the cyberpunk horror game developed by Bloober Team, the creators of Layers of Fears, may be coming soon to Mac.

The game was released for Windows on August 15, 2017, but both Mac and Linux versions were unfortunately delayed.

As the game’s official publisher, Aspyr Media reassured us and confirmed that the game is coming soon, they simply need more time to fine-tune and optimize both ports.

And it seems the wait might be soon over, as someone spotted this comment from an Aspyr employee on Reddit:

observer_ is ABSOLUTELY coming to Linux! We had a date we needed to hit, and unfortunately couldnt get linux done within that timeframe. We are working hard towards a late Oct date, but definitely this year.

Linux and Mac versions will most likely get a simultaneous release. If this pans out, we might be able to play this fine horror game this Halloween 🙂

In need of more good horror games

There are a few great horror games for macOS, but this is a genre that definitely needs some new life. Aside Layers of Fear and Darkwood, there haven’t been that many interesting macOS releases. I had high hopes Outlast 2 would eventually make it, but it never did…

Observer will undoubtedly be the best Horror game for Mac this year and I’m confident both Aspyr and Bloober Team will do a great job optimizing the Mac port.

About the game

In Observer, you are Dan Lazarski, an elite neural detective known as an Observer. You are part of a police unit whose purpose is to hack and invade suspects’ minds. In this future, anything you think, feel, or remember can be used against you in a court of law.

The game takes place in a dark dystopia where drugs, VR, and neural implants ravage the remaining survivors.

So far, the game has received excellent reviews from Game Informer, Gamespot, The Sixth Axis, and some are calling it one the best cyberpunk games of all-time!

In the meantime, you can learn more about Observer from Aspyr’s official FAQ page.
