XCOM 2 Collection now available on Mac

While most franchises simply aim to not disappoint, XCOM delights gamers with increasingly superior turn-based strategy games.

Enter XCOM 2 Collection.

XCOM 2 for Mac was already a great game. A worthy successor of the superb XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Then Firaxis did the impossible and released War of the Chosen, an Expansion so big, it changed XCOM 2 forever.

They are the team behind both macOS and Linux versions and so far have managed to secure same-day releases and cross-platform multiplayer. Two impressive feats when it comes to multiplatform development.

Improving upon one of the best strategy games out there

XCOM 2 takes place 20 years into the future. Humanity lost the war against the alien forces and the XCOM organization is largely forgotten. The aliens promise a brilliant future for humanity, but their real agenda is dark and sinister. In XCOM 2, you lead what’s left of the XCOM forces to stop the alien threat once and for all.

Then you have the War of the Chosen DLC, an expansion so big that Firaxis thought it would become XCOM 3. This DLC is packed full of new enemies, missions, and more.

But more importantly, it introduces The Chosen, the most dangerous enemies XCOM has ever seen. They will kidnap, interrogate, and kill XCOM’s soldiers to complete their objective, but you’ll have access to new Hero classes to fight them off. Needless to say, XCOM 2 is a much better game and one of the finest strategy games for Mac.

Be careful with those Mac system requirements

For a turn-based strategy game, XCOM 2 is one demanding game. If you want to be safe, you better meet (or preferably exceed) the game’s minimum system requirements:

• OS: 10.12.5
• Processor: Intel Core i3
• RAM: 8GB
• Hard Disk: 78GB
• Graphics: 1GB Nvidia 650M or better, 1GB AMD Radeon 5750 or better, 1GB Intel Iris Pro 5200 or better

And for an optimal experience, these are the recommended system requirements:

• OS: 10.12.6 or higher
• Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel 2.7 GHz
• RAM: 8GB
• Hard Disk: 78GB
• Graphics card: 2GB NVIDIA 700 series or AMD R9 series

If your Mac can’t handle these requirements, the game is also available on mobile nowadays. It’s considered one of the best Android and iOS games!
