Blimey! Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions flew onto the scene on September 3rd, 2024, for PC and consoles! While there’s no native Mac port in sight, that doesn’t mean Mac gamers are out of luck. With a bit of tech magic, you can play the latest Quidditch game on nearly any Apple Silicon Mac!
Can You Play Quidditch Champions on Mac?
Absolutely! Though there’s no native Mac version, you can get Quidditch Champions running using Wine-based apps like Heroic Games Launcher, CrossOver 24, or Whisky. These methods fully support multiplayer, with no anti-cheat issues. Here’s a quick guide on how to set it up using Heroic Games Launcher.
How to Play Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions on macOS
Heroic Games Launcher lets you play select Epic, Amazon, and GOG games on Apple Silicon Macs using the Apple Game Porting Toolkit. Here’s how:
- Download Heroic Games Launcher for Apple Silicon Mac from here.
- In the Heroic sidebar, select ‘Wine Manager’ and download the latest Game-Porting-Toolkit-2.0-Beta1. Let it finish downloading.
- In the sidebar, go to ‘Stores’ > ‘Epic Games Store,’ and log into your Epic Games account.
- Search for Quidditch Champions in the Epic Games Store, purchase it, then close Heroic.
- Wait about 5 minutes, reopen Heroic, and check your library for Quidditch Champions. If it’s not there yet, wait a little longer and try again.
- Select Quidditch Champions and click ‘Install.’
- After downloading, click the three sliders in the top-right of Heroic to access game settings.
- In Quidditch Champions settings, choose the Game- Porting Toolkit you downloaded under the CrossOver/Wine Version dropdown and enable MSync for smoother performance.
- Since we’re using Heroic, we need to install a “wine trick” to get C++ running. Select Quidditch Champions in Heroic, go to the settings, and click ‘WINETRICKS.’ Search for ‘vcrun2022’ and install it. Then, launch the game and start catching that Golden Snitch!
The First Quidditch Video Game in Over 20 Years!
For those who don’t know, the first Quidditch video game was Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, released in 2003. After 20 years, Quidditch Champions is bringing the magical sport back, this time with multiplayer matches!
Quidditch Champions Mac Requirements
The developers recommend a computer with at least 8GB of RAM. Any Apple Silicon Mac with 8GB or more should run the game smoothly. Unfortunately, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions does not have FSR capablities. XESS upscaling is available, but you should avoid using XESS when gaming on Mac. If enabled, FPS will likely tank and the game will be unplayable. If Mac gaming is Harry Potter, then XESS is Lord Voldemort. Avoid at all costs.

The game runs great! It’s impressive to see Quidditch Champions perform so well on a Mac, even through a translation layer. The game feels light, with a stable frame rate and no noticeable glitches or bugs. Multiplayer works flawlessly, and once it’s up and running, it feels like it could be a native Mac port.
We tested on two Macs (M1 Pro and M3 Max) at 1920×1080 and 2560×1440 resolutions. Across the board, there’s some shader stutter initially, but it smooths out quickly. On an M1 Pro with 16GB RAM at 1080p High Graphics, the game runs at a steady 60FPS, only dropping slightly during testing.
Both local and online matches worked perfectly.
At 1440p medium Graphics, FPS dropped to around 50, but the gameplay still felt smooth and playable. If you’re gaming at 1440p or higher, we recommend Medium or Low settings for the best experience.
On the M3 Max Macbook Pro, the game performs even better. At 1440p High Graphics, it hits up to 90FPS in offline modes. In online matches, it still runs well, at around 80FPS. At 1080p High Graphics, Quidditch Champions runs at a locked 120FPS.
