Can You Run Dave the Diver on Mac? Benchmarks and Performance
You can expect the game to run around 60 FPS across all Mac platforms. Albeit, there are no particular benchmarks available on various different platforms as there’s not much to report on, it is a pixel-based game that really isn’t much of a problem for any modern Mac, Apple Silicon or not.
Users did report that the game was not playable using the Trackpad or Magic Mouse. However, thankfully, the developers are quite active and have recently released an update that allows for Trackpad and Magic Mouse support across all platforms as well.
The only issue that users have reported so far, which we’ve also experienced once during testing, is that the game does indeed crash sometimes. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. However, in terms of battery performance, the game consumes very little battery around (6-8 Watts total consumption on a base M1) and doesn’t cause any excessive overheating issues.
Since the game is natively optimized, you can expect great performance across the Mac lineup, particularly with Apple Silicon. However, if you have a decently new Intel Mac, you will still be able to play the game fairly well.
Dave the Diver on MacBook: Can it run on a base M1 MacBook Air?
Absolutely, Dave the Diver runs very well on the base M1 MacBook Air. The game is natively optimized, which means that there’s no need for you to install any extra applications. Plus, since the game generally isn’t very demanding, Dave the Diver will be cooking up that wonderful Sushi quite melodiously on your screen with no trouble whatsoever.
The Verdict: Is Dave the Diver on Mac worth it?
Dave the Diver is a great description of what an Indie game should be. Sweet, well-thought-out, and with a cool concept that retains its novelty for the entire duration of the game length. Our only concern is the crashes that we’ve run into, and so have many other users. But, it isn’t so frequent that it takes away from the game’s experience, which is why we are happy to recommend the game.
