Mad Max’s Mac Version is Now Available

Great news: Mad Max is finally available on Mac starting today, October 20, 2016.

The announcement comes straight from Feral Interactive, the studio in charge of Mad Max for Mac and Linux.

Mad Max is an action-adventure game based on the Mad Max films and comes from the creators of the Just Cause series. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland and asks you to seek revenge on a gang of raiders. It also features car combat, exploration, and upgrades.

You can grab yourself a copy from the Mac App Store:

According to most reviewers, Mad Max is a fun game that takes place in a beautiful wasteland. Many praised the car combat mechanics and good graphics, but some complained about a poor story and repetitive melee combat.

In any case, I consider this a win, as the game comes as a complete surprise. Can you blame me? Just look at it:

The system requirements are the following:

Minimum Mac requirements:

  • OS: Mac OS X 10.11.6
  • Processor: Intel i5 3.2 GHz
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Hard Disk: 35GB
  • Graphics: 2GB

Recommended Mac requirements:

  • OS: Mac OS X 10.11.6 or higher
  • Processor: Intel i7 3.6 GHz
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Hard Disk: 35GB
  • Graphics: 4GB

You’ll notice that the graphics requirements are extremely demanding. If you don’t have a MacBook Pro, iMac or Mac Pro, I would stay away from this game.

I will test the Mac version on my iMac as soon as possible and share with you the results.

The biggest rumors, finally confirmed

This confirms the rumors coming from SteamDB. Back in March 2015, SteamDB spotted that someone was actively working on Mac and Linux versions:

Mad Max Mac

It turns out, it was Feral.

Feral Interactive was also behind another big rumor: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, officially coming to Mac this year.

This leaves us with lots of confirmations and just a handful of unconfirmed leaks. Now let’s hope that Dark Souls will eventually become official…

Will you buy Mad Max? Let us know how it runs on your Mac.

Just to send a small feedback on this game, I tested it on my mid-2014 15″ Retina Macbook Pro (i7 2,8 GHz and gt-750m GPU) and it runs great! Didn’t maxed the graphics settings (have not tried), but with average settings it is very good looking and it is perfectly fluid. Very happy! 😉

That’s good to hear. This is a quite demanding game, so I expect many MacBooks to struggle. Good to hear that yours can handle it. Although , yours is pretty impressive! Dedicated graphics and an i7 processor!

  • MrUNIMOG

Anyone tested it on officially unsupported integrated graphics?

  • MrUNIMOG

Despite the outrageous system requirements (2 GB VRAM, what the heck), this is actually no bad port at all.

Tested it on my late 2016 13″ MacBook Pro (Iris 550), which misses the minimum requirements big time, and other than a warning on first launch stating that the hardware was not supported, there were no issues whatsoever.

Scaled to half native resolution (1280×800) and on minimum settings, the game runs perfectly smooth, which is a neat surprise considering the demanding requirements.

Well I have a MacBook Pro 13″ and I can’t play it. What a waste of money.

Does anyone have a PS4 controller working on this one, it does seem to get registred
