How our 2-week Fortnite Mac challenge works

Fortnite Mac challenge

This is a FREE challenge designed to create the ultimate Fortnite Mac guide. Fortnite is the most popular game right now and everybody wants to play it.

But many don’t want to jump in because they ask themselves: Can my Mac run it?

For the next 2 weeks, we will put Fortnite to the test on as many Macs as possible and create the ultimate resource Mac gaming has ever seen, with hundreds of results covering all supported Macs.

Can you imagine it? A single page with real-life tests of Fortnite running on every Mac under the sun, including yours? We have partnered with MrMacRight to bring as many Mac gamers as possible and we’re confident this will be big!

And don’t worry if you’ve never benchmarked a game before. We will guide you every step of the way with videos and a guidebook.

Why the challenge?

As Mac gamers, we may never get preferential treatment from developers, but we do have one huge advantage: a finite number of Mac models available.

Think about it, you could never do this on Windows, there are just too many combinations of CPUs, GPUs, motherboards, etc. But on MacOS? We can really test the game on every supported Mac out there and create the ultimate Performance review ever seen in the gaming community.

Besides doing something extremely useful for the tens of thousands of Mac gamers out there, this will be a lot of fun. Part of the challenge is getting access to a private group where we’ll get to talk, compare results and simply have fun. I know I’ll be in there every day!

After all, a strong community is the foundation of some of the best gaming sites and gaming forums!

What’s in it for you

Besides getting to be part of the ride and meet fellow gamers, you’ll get:

  • Access to our secret group
  • Get your name on the wall of fame (which will be added to the final Performance review)
  • Be part of a massive giveaway I’ve prepared: More than $1,000 worth of games will be given away randomly

This is such a great idea!

Also glad to see that Count It now works without disabling System Integrity Protection. Hoping to find time for some more benchmarking of other games.

    • Ric Molina

Yep, that was a big weakness Michael (our dev) spent a long time trying to solve and I’m glad we found a solution! We benchmark games with the rest of the team every week. If you’re interested, let me know on Discord!

  3. Mark J

    Awesome. Thanks for this Ric!

    • Ric Molina

My pleasure, I’ll see you on the other side now 😉

  4. Nelson De Gouveia

So gutted, my Macbook 2012 with Intel HD 4000 won’t get past the Loading screen. Enjoy the rest of the challenge, guys!

    • Ric Molina

Man, that sucks! Did you try restarting your Mac, reinstalling the game, etc? Your Intel HD4000 is officially supported so it SHOULD work…

  5. Cactus.Tsai

Fortnite keeps crashing in the loading screen. Do you have any idea?? I’m running 10.12.6

    • Ric Molina

I experienced a few crashes but usually restarting the game would be the solution. Have you tried restarting your Mac? What about uninstalling and then reinstalling the game?
