Who said Mac gaming is stale? Check our “Newest Mac Games” list

Witcher 2 Mac

Mac gaming is definitely one of the least understood things on the internet. I guess the hate comes from the fact that people love to hate Apple (and everything they do) or the fact that Mac gaming had a rough patch some years ago. But things are so bad right now that even normal people (including regular Mac users) now believe what trolls say.

Other than the general “Macs are not good for gaming” comment, the most popular critic I keep hearing is that there are no new games on the Mac. It’s time to put that myth to bed.

I scoured the internet for a good, reliable resource with all the latest Mac games (like the hundreds that exist for Windows-PCs and consoles) but I unfortunately couldn’t find any (except a list but it was old and no longer relevant). No wonder the average Mac user ends up believing what the trolls say!

I decided it was time to change that and did what any responsible Mac Gamer / Blogger would do: I created one myself. I don’t expect it to be perfect, but this should be a good start.

Behold Mac Gamer HQ’s Newest Mac Games list:

Recently Released Mac Games

I know there’s room for improvement, but this should be a great way for you to know what the most recent Mac games are. Next time you hear someone complain about the lack of new games on the Mac, do them a solid and send them a link to this list ;) .

Not every game that gets a Mac version will be added (I could never keep up with the hundreds of Indies that are released every month) but I promise to include all the Triple A games and the most popular Indie games too.

This is a work in progress and all your suggestions are welcome. Would you like to see some more information about the games? Perhaps you heard about a game that I missed here?

Lets create the most accurate (and awesome) Newest Mac Games list!

This is what Mac Gaming needs Macgamerhq good job. You are actualizing things that are not put together even though they are out there. Kudos

Thanks man, hoping this will be a helpful resource for gamers! Next one, An “Upcoming Mac Games” list ;)

Unfortunately this list shies in comparison to the PC releases of this month, but it’s definitely the right direction. I’m surprised Child of Light isn’t on OS X at release since Bastion was. Also would have like to see Trials Fusion and Dark Souls II. Oh well, maybe in a few months!

That’s why we got MacGamer! :)

Thanks man, indeed if you compare this to the PC equivalent, then yes it’s pretty depressing…
But hey, gotta stay positive ;) And by the way, since I published this article I added close to 10 games (not much but should make it better still).

Might and Magic X: Legacy released on April 16 also.. I just saw it yesterday on Steam.. But well done, Looking forward to Moebius!

See also http://store.steampowered.com/browse/mac/ which is fairly comprehensive. Not perfect, because of course it doesn’t include Blizzard. For Mac App Store releases, see http://appshopper.com/mac/games/

Both good resources, thanks man. I do think it’s a shame that Steam is becoming bloated with Shovelware. I had to click the “more” button 4 times before seing games that I find interesting…. If you find another good resource let me know too :)

      • http://www.controlcommandescape.com/ Ninja Foodstuff

yeah Giant Bomb has a great list too: http://www.giantbomb.com/mac/3045-17/games/ also shows upcoming releases

        • http://macgamerhq.com/ Mac Gamer Ric

          Thanks man, it’s not bad.
The only problem is that in some cases they list the Windows release date instead of the Mac one (for example LEGO The Hobbit) which makes it a little misleading.

    • Th3taJ

I’ve listed over 100+ games for OS X that I want to play thanks to the steam listing.
It’s hard for people to be delusional about gaming on a Mac when they see my Steam games.

And yet they still are… If you knew how many spam comments I delete on my Youtube channel. Mostly people saying that Macs suck for gaming. Yet they say that while on a channel with over 50 videos of only NEW triple-A mac games…..

At the end it’s better to just ignore them…

This.. this should be a thing: https://xkcd.com/481/

Man, that would save me up so much time while moderating the comments there! lol

          • Chris Tallant

XKCD is a daily read.. even if there isn’t a new strip online…

  • Th3taJ

Everyone says I need to play FTL
    Maybe I’ll get it…seems cool…Opinions?

    • http://macgamerhq.com/ Mac Gamer Ric

You definitely should! It’s not very expensive and the fact that there’s a bunch of random stuff keeps it fresh for HOURS.

This new edition has more stuff so this would be the right time!
