Talk about a great week for Mac gaming.
After BioShock’s announcement (and Tacoma’s release), Pyre, the indie hit from Supergiant Games, is available for Mac!
Supergiant Games may ring a bell. That’s because they’re the team behind Bastion and Transistor, two world-class indie games. Expectations surrounding their third game were high and everyone wondered how good it could be.
Party-based RPG Pyre was finally released last week and critics were unanimous, it was great. And I was very upset that only Windows and Linux were supported…
But Supergiant was secretly working on the Pyre’s Mac version, which was released on August 3rd!
I like how Engadget describes it:
Pyre is an awesome sports game masquerading as fantasy heroics.
In Pyre, your character was banished from civilization and the only way to come back is to win competitive matches in sacred courts. The same rule applies to all other outcasts and you’ll have to lead your party of three to victory.
You can see the game in action below:
Pyre’s Mac system requirements are the following:
- OS: 10.7.5 (latest macOS release recommended)
- Processor: Dual Core 3.0ghz
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Graphics: 1GB VRAM / OpenGL 2.1+ support
- Storage: 7 GB available space
I haven’t played it yet but requirements don’t seem too high to me (plus, Supergiant clearly went for original aesthetics instead of super demanding).
I only suggest you make sure you have at least 1 GB of video RAM (even if your graphics card is integrated and not dedicated).
You can find Pyre for Mac on Steam.
