Right on the heels of Mafia 3, another AAA game hits MacOS.
These are excellent news. First, because it’s the first Dawn of War game since 2009. Second, because the game is released on Mac less than two months later than the Windows version. Some games take years to come to the Mac. If they come at all…

Dawn of War 3 features a 17-mission campaign, giving you command of the heavy-hitting Space Marines, the savage Orks, and the technologically-sophisticated Eldar. All three factions fight for the Spear of Khaine, a mysterious weapon that will determine the fates of all three.
But the real focus is the game’s multiplayer mode. Dawn of War 3 features fast-paced matches in which two teams of up to three players per side battle for supremacy. The macOS and Linux versions of the game on Steam will be cross-platform compatible with each other.
Cross-platform multiplayer with Windows would be ideal, but Mac and Linux cross-platform support should do it.
As you can expect from a Dawn of War game, you’ll be in control of entire armies, but also elite units that can be leveled up and upgraded. Creating strong squads and taking advantage of each unit’s unique abilities will be the key to victory.
Dawn of War 3 Mac features
I suppose Dawn of War 3 for Mac will require Metal, which would exclude most Macs released before 2012. To be confirmed.
The game’s Mac system requirements are the following:
- 2.0GHz Intel i5 processor
- MacOS 10.12.4
- 8GB of RAM
- Graphics cards from all three vendors, AMD, Nvidia, and Intel are supported
This means the game is supported on a wide range of Macs:
- Most 21’5” iMacs released since late 2013
- All 27” iMacs released since late 2013
- All 13” Retina MacBook Pros released since 2016
- All 15” Retina MacBook Pros released since mid
- All Mac Pros released since late 2013

Dawn of War 3 is available on the Mac App Store for $59.99.
